Do 5.4's in vans have the plug problems?
He had to escalate it jbrew, so he needed a vacation. The point is, you can differ with someone and correct their info without being a post bully.

Well he did point out the vans still have the 2v engine and I assumed they were 3v's by now. I need a new van so I'm actually glad to hear they have kept the 2v in that platform. The 2v in the van i have now is a great engine.

Great engine? I guess so. Have you ever gone to the "Million Mile Van" site? It's a '97 E-250 I believe. Is used for contract delivery. Last I went to the site about 2 weeks ago he had about 1,130,000 mi. on it and had never had the heads or pan off. The transmission has never been overhauled and THE PAN HAS NEVER BEEN OFF! Blew his 1st plug at over a million miles. It's been in most of the states. Interesting read.
GLC,....What's FFV?
I know what it is, I deal with it everyday.
Careful stacking is critcal or I could end up with mess that could cost me my job.
FFV = Fresh Fruit & Vegetable

Flex Fuel Vehicle
It's interesting the van division has so far refused the 3v engine. That says allot about the 3v. The van division did take the Modular in 97 same time as the F-150 while the big trucks waited for a year or 2 to change over. I think they knew that the modular was a winner right off. Ford vans are far superior to the competition. I want my van to be reliable and it is. I haven't had a single unscheduled down day because of a break down in the 7 years I've had it. I'm not concerned about anything else as I am reliability. Performance and fuel economy are not nearly as important.
As far as modular PI's. The Vans and 3/4 tons didn't get the 5four PI's for sometime. I think that didn't happen until 2001. Same time the 4six was manufactured w/PI heads. The F150 5.4L's were the first in 99.
But I'll take a non PI any day. Great motors.
