gotta problem that needs a quick solution

Here is my problem:

a while back my truck started doing this thing where I could turn the key and the starter relay(the thing on the firewall) would just click and nothing would happen, so you would have to just sit there with the key turned and eventually it would just start right up or you could turn the key really fast allot of times and it would start(so I replaced that part), then it started doing this thing that it would get to the rotating part but would not start until you tried it again and now all it does is just rotate but wont start, I pulled one of the spark plug wires to check for spark and there is none so this would lead me to believe a relay or the crankshaft position sensor is to blame, I also got my multimeter and turned it to battery load test(12V) and hooked it to the sensor pigtail and got zero volts is this bad

so my question is what relay would cause this and is the way I checked the crank position sensor right or is there another way, and is there anything else that anyone can think of

and why it needs a quick solution: I need to be at work in 3 hours, but if all else fails I will call a cab or someone to drop me off

When you're trying to start it, and all you get is the clicking, do your gauges do anything?

I had a similar sounding situation, turned out to be a dead battery. I heard the relay clicking, the radio and electrical system seemed to work fine, I even tried jumping my truck using my wife's car, but nothing seemed to work.

Had it taken in, the tested the batter and it only had 6 cold cranking amps. They replaced it and no more problems. My gauges were sweeping counter clockwise when I'd try to start though. If I turned the key to acc, everything would power up just fine, gauges would do what they were supposed to. But when I'd try to crank it, that's when things would go haywire.

Goo luck!

Monitor the rpm pid in the PCM with your scantool, Should read 200-300 while cranking. If no signal than the crank sensor is bad

@jethat: Yes

also I dont have a computer that can show the rpms how ever I installed a tach that is hooked up to the computer and when I would crank the engine the rpms did not move like they used to so I have started the meticulous task of replacing the sensor

Update: I replaced the sensor and nothing it still doing the same thing although its not doing the clicking thing but I think that is because before all this started I replaced the ground terminal with new one so it is no longer loose and should be getting a good connection
