Choppy on startup

Angry Choppy on startup

i have an 04 heritage with the 4.6 and when i turn it over, sometimes its choppy on the start up, ive even tried engaging the starter from a very brief period of time longer then normal when i start it. any ideas whats up?

I feel like I may be having the same problem but mine is 5.4, about once every couple weeks Ill try to start it and It sounds like its gonna fire up then it just dies so I turn the key again and it sounds like something grinds or winds. Im not sure what the problem is.

First thing to do is go get your battery tested.

No, I mean a load test. Autozone does that free in the vehicle, and they can also test the alternator the same way with the same instrument. If you have the original battery, it's at the time where it's probably starting to get weak.
