leaking oil and No oil pressure on cold mornings

Well ive noticed that when i start my truck on cool/cold mornings the oil pressure is bottomed out but i can give it gas and it shoots back up to where it should be but as soon as i let off the gas back down it goes until fully warmed up.
ALSO:
Im getting a litttle leak up on or around the oil filter and this has been going on for quite sometime now. Ive changed oil many many times since ive notice the oil leaking and i havent seen anything on where the oil filter goes and i always make sure the filter is fully tight.

Can anyone please give me a helping hand with this. THANKS

Post your engine size, there's 3 and one of those is completely different than the other.

They language filtered your sig

Did that say Fun Country maybe ?

Anyway, I would check that single wire to the sending unit first, I just fixed one that was doing the same thing with oil pressure. The wire was full of crap, plus the battery was bad because of other wiring problems lol. Regardless, check the wire clean it and re-insulate if it needs it, -specially look for chaffing, -chaffing in that wire will cause slow response. It would be in front of the oil filter on that model.

Look for the leak to either be from the O-ring or Oil pan, you have to find it. Clean it all up under there so you can pinpoint it.

Here's a couple cold starts - Your gauge SHOULD perk up like this-

Here's and 01 5.4L -

Here's a 98 -

As you can tell , I likes starting the 98 lol.

actually there are dc tires so yeah they took the d part out lol. I know what wire your talkn bout because theres oil on it from the leak. The oil is running down off of the oil filter so its somewhere up there.

The oil pressure is at its highest on a cold start, so like everybody is suggesting, it's most likely the gauge and not the real pressure. The sending unit is the most likely culprit.
