What The .... Codes HELP

Ok, so this is my first posted (wish it was for something different).

I have a 2006 FX4 with a 5.4 3v with a little over 60,000 miles. Original plugs and have the following mods

Drop in K&N
Airaid intake tube
Magnaflow Cat-Back System PERFORMANCE EXHAUST

I’ve been running the flashpaq mileage xs program with 93 octane.

So this afternoon, driving home from work the truck starts to run very rough under acceleration up to 2000 rpms and then smooth out and idles very rough. I was able to pull the following codes

PO172 – sys too rich
PO 304 – fault cylinder E
P2196 – O2 sems signal stuck rich bank sense

Any ideas what’s causing this? I did reprogram with the stock file and still having the issue, if not worse.

Thanks

P0304 misfire in Cyl #4

When is the last time you cleaned your MAF?

what is the build date on the truck? I know the 05s had injector issues, if you have very early 06 model with an 05 build date, then you may have an injector leaking

The last time MAF was cleaned was somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000 miles ago and the build date of the truck is 11-29-05

Thanks for the reply

ok, I guess I'll see what the dealershiphas has to say. Any idea what the cost of fixing a fuel injector would be?

Thanks

The part itself can't be more then 25 bucks, but you will probably pay 1hr diagnosis charge, and a couple of 10ths to change it out, all in all i'd guess 150 bucks but dont quote me on it.

Also make sure those codes are in the truck still or they wont have a clue on where to start with diagnosis

Unless the truck qualifies for the 05 injector extended warranty because of your truck's early build date, then Ford should be picking up the tab on it. Make sure you talk to your service adviser and get the information about the 05 injector issue and see if you are covered under it.

Good luck, let us know what they say/do/charge

take it easy, if it starts to act up worse then today, shut it off immediately. there have been several 2005 trucks that ended up needing a whole new engine because the injector leaked so much that it hydrolocked the motor.

If you are really concerned about it, and to be on the safe side, you could just unplug the #4 injector and coil and run it on 7 cylinders up to the dealership

Well, just heard back from the dealership and it was a bad injector and of course my truck didn’t qualify for the extended warranty. So I’m out $250.

Anyone know how I can verify which trucks the extended warranty covers? All the service bulletin says is YEAR: 2005. Is that model or production year? I’ve already call Ford and they referred me back to the dealership

Yep, and your not the only 06 owner that hasn't took one on that. There's quite a few, Ford SHOULD cover the 06 as well.

You'll have to look at your door tag for build date, but the to -100,000 mile extension was for the 05 models only AFAIK.

Im curious what the break down of all the charges are, labor, diagnosis, parts, shop fees etc. Even the Labor rate per hour if you dont mind

They should atleast cover the built in 05s at a bare minimum, and should cover the first half of the 06 model year. If Ford says the 06s were fixed then they should have nothing to fear by including them in the extended coverage.

Did they say it was bad as in stuck closed, or bad as in stuck open? Make them tell you if they didnt, you need to know the root reason you are dropping 250 bucks
