Coolant flush (again)
Read most of the coolant threads and the great how to... a couple of questions.
I've done a search for the Prestone flushing tee kit and cannot find one to buy. Do we have one here with our vendors or can someone suggest an outlet?
I use Amsoil products almost exclusively. The AMSOIL Antifreeze and Engine Coolant is what their page suggests for my '97 4.6 F-150 and I'm about to buy some. Seems to come with 5% water, will have to ask them if they suggest mixing more water into the radiator. It is biodegradable and not harmful to cats (darn! ;^) -

I bought a flushing tee kit at Autozone in Lakeside CA a couple years ago.
You may use pure Amsoil coolant - because it's propylene glycol and the freeze curve does not come back up like with ethylene glycol - but anything over 70% is a waste of coolant, it gives you freeze protection to -76F. 50% gives you freeze protection to -26F.

NAPA also carries the T kit. Instructions are easy to follow. I believe you cut the "lower" hose comeing out of the firewall and install T.
If you have the V-8 engine, there should be a screw in plug on each side of the block just below and behind the second freeze plug. It is specifically for draining the coolant.
Mine has em.
After you back flush with the T, I start by pouring in straight antifreeze until it comes out of the T. Then adjust with distelled water and more antifreeze.

Many thanks for the responses. I like the idea of a 'bio-degradable' coolant such as Amsoil seems to sell. I lost the heater core about 30K miles ago and had Ford install some fancy brass one but the job was expensive. Now I want to stop any electrolysis and try and keep things from rotting from the inside out. Appreciate the help!
