what year 4.6L will fit in a f150 1997

what year 4.6L will fit in a f150 1997

i have a 1997 f150 with a 4.6L it needs a new motor i can get a good deal on a 4.6L from a 1993 tbird will this fit? thanks

i'm pretty sure that 4.6 will fit. i'm not totally sure but there may be some modifications needed because the 93 tbird was obd1 and your truck is obd2. you'll want to use the truck intake manifold.

is the obd1 swap to obd2 just the wiring harness?

it should be but i'm not totally sure if there is anything else that was different with the motor itself.-mainly sensors. if anything needs to be changed then it shouldnt be much at all but i'm just not totally sure what needs to be done from the 93 tbird to the 97 f150

another question is what is the difference between a 6 bolt flywheel and a 8 bolt? what do i have in my 97 f150 4x4 automatic?

the 6 and 8 bolt flywheels is strictly the crank, nothing more. the torque convertor should still bolt up to it. i think the difference was whether it was a windsor or romeo engine.
