Engine Swap

Hey, just wondering if it is possible to swap in a Mustang GT engine into my 1995 f150 4x4. The truck currently has a 5.0 motor, but i have a friend of mine that said he will give me a Mustang motor out of a 90 GT. The plus is i no the motor runs fine. Also, my motor has 170,000 the gt motor has just under 85,000. Would this work, and if so is there anything else i would have to do then just swap one for the other??

it will bolt up just fine. but even if the mustang engine makes more power it wont give you the low end torque the truck engine does. they run different camshafts. Go on fullsizebronco.com, those guys have more knowledge on these swaps!

well, im mostly looking for some performance boost on the quarter mile, i race it every saturday, and right now its doing 17.4's. Next year i want to sign up for points at the track i run in, and would definitely like to go faster I figured getting the engine for free, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Would most definitely do some performance upgrades to the engine before it went in as well, new cam etc.

If you race then you must know what needs to be done to lower your ETs. Higher gears out back and swapping in a 5.8 would be better. A good shift kit for the tranny too. There's way more you can do, but in the end its still a truck (Heavy). I hope you get the results you want! I love the flareside trucks!
