K&N Mass Air Flow Sensor Statement

I don't know if this has been posted before but I thought I'd share anyway. It's K&N's Mass Air Flow Sensor Statement. There's some rather interesting videos in the linked page.

The best vid on this website is the one labeled "Can oil come off our filters?" It's proof generated by K&N that their filters do not make more HP. Per their testing, at normal speeds the air flow thru a filter is around 1 mile per hour. At full acceleration it is around 10 mph which is about walking speed. The rest of this is pretty much advertising hype. But to further comment on the oil migration, they are testing for short periods of time in laboratory environments which is majorly flawed testing. The fact that the oil does migrate in spitula form has been well documented. If you need a cleanable filter, theirs has been the biggest player in the market but for the average driver they are a waste of money.

K&N is in business to sell air filters; of course they're gonna say their product filters more, flows better, makes more power, delivers better fuel mileage, doesn't contaminate mass air sensors and cures cancer.

The Amsoil nanofilter is a dry filter that's cleanable.

Installed last Winter - I like this one, - shaped like the Motorcraft for the 97-03, 4.2L - 5.4L models. Difference is the Media Upgrade which IS pretty nice. I run the Volant system w/ the factory air box and Amsoil Filter.

It's nice not finding sand/dirt particles in the intake tube,- as I did with the K & N filter. Yea, I watched the K & N video,- those guys have a good job! I would want to keep it to. Honestly, they don't know how to test an air filter IMO, -or maybe they do and cut that part from their vid. A true test would be a Baha Run and they didn't come remotely close to that from what I've seen...., -huh, ? - wonder why??

Because their still trying to figure out how foreign matter is getting past them.

Glad I don't have to worry about that one nohmoh
