Dealership service dept

Okay the story goes like this: I have a 4.6 L 06 F-150. I am at 60,000 miles now, so I called up Ford to see how much it would cost to change out my plugs. So they told me $480.00 which would include the plugs. At first I was thinking well tha really isn't that bad. However after taking a careful look at the truck, I decided against it. I went to the store bought the same plugs that they wanted to sell me. Bosch Platinum +, for $30.00 and I had them installed in less than 2 hours. Now keep in mind this is a 06 4.6L F150. I have never looked at the way a 5.4 is set up. However changing the plugs is relatively easy. I am tell you this because I don't want other people being ripped off as well, especially since I was almost crazy enough to pay that large amount of money to have someone due something I could do.

Bosch are about the worst plugs you could have bought. You should have went with motorcraft. Bosch plug have been known to disintegrate causing major engine damage. Modulars are very plug sensitive and Bosch is the worst.

Why in the hell would a Ford dealership recommend anything other than motor craft? That doesn't jive and you were smart not to take the truck there in the first place. FYI, you may enjoy the Bosch for a while, but snoop around the forums for a bit and you will see ultimately people go back to Motorcraft. Also there is a new one piece plug, don't know much about it but it is out there.

Brutal.

I love how people go and DO something and THEN come hear for affirmation.
