What plugs should I go with?

Alright, I have a 96 351 Windsor and I've been putting Champions in it. I want to try something different. What would you guys recommend? Would I be better off putting MotorCrafts in it or is there something better than that?

I usually like to stick to OEM on plugs so i would say MotorCraft or AutoLite plugs.

Motorcraft Plugs

Autolites aren't OEM AFAIK and haven't been since 1972 lol.

Your always better off using products that meet (or exceed) quality standards set by Ford Motor Company

Autolite isn't on the list, -wrong heat range, plain and simple.

Plugs that meet Spec for the two valves, to 03 +

Motorcraft
Denso's
NGK

Safe to choose from those above. ( :

Yea, I was going to correct that , -a little

Modulars: -I've heard hear and there that you can run the AL coppers. The Platinum's they don't like... I guess you know that already lol. I wonder if the cross reference for Autolite pre-97 would be the coppers ?

_____

The 351: - Well hell, -if he can run Champions, then any plug that threads down should work lol.

yea these old engines dont really care what you put in them as long as they work. in these engines the coper cores perform the best. the autolites perform about the same as the mc's but are cheaper and last just as long. the biggest difference between the 2 is that the motorcrafts are more consistant with the resistances.

either way i wouldnt run champions, i've never had any good experience with them. not even my dads chain saw and thats what came in it.

I use autolites in my Mach i. I wouldnt use a champion plug in anything. 30 years ago I put them in my dads chevy and they failed immediately. Never touch one since.

The cheapest AutoLites that WalMart sells seem to work best in these older cast-iron engines.

Guess I'm goin with MotorCrafts. The Champions aren't making it miss or anything, it just doesn't seem to run as good as other Windsors I've drove and they weren't takin care of near as well as mine has been.
