I mean I could always get a custom made ecu but then that would be more money as well.
you cannot swap over a lightning ecm unless you also swap in a 4r100 transmission or a stand alone box for your 4r70 (so it's cheaper to leave the stock ecm and have it tuned)

The stock ECM will be ok with the Cobra's supercharger?

after a tune YES and since the cobra is a manual he couldn't run his automatic on it anyway he'd need an automatic ECM

you can swap from an auto trans to a manual trans on the auto ECM

you cannot swap from a manual trans to an auto trans using the manual ECM

the 2 and 4 valve NON VTC ECM's are for the transmission more than the motor as long as youo maintain the same number of cylinders and get the ECM tuned for it

remember you'll need to use your existing oil pan due to the suspension differences

for you guys considering this swap get on you tube and search for the turbo 32 valve 4.6 expedition, it's got lightning badges and a harley truck valance it's maroon it's a nice truck (other than the badges, they just look wrong but ti's got the power to back em up)

I mean, like I said I could always just swap the Lightning motor into it and tranny and ecu., and put a KB on it, and be just as fast, id probably hit close to 12-13's with it an a 1/4 I wouldn't expect 10's or 9's. it be sweet though.

with the 4r100 comes an additional 2-3 grand in parts, by time you change the tranny wiring, drive shaft, cross member and get all the "hidden" fees out of the way

it's be easier to swap in a 5.4 do the lightning harely conversion and use a KB VS an eaton and have your existing tranny built up tomatch your goals and motor potential

you'd need a lot of motor to get into the 12's or 13's with a land barge

ah gotcha, so your saying its cheaper to go the route of the Cobra motor, and just getting a auto tranny mated to it? and tuning the ecu to make it work?

I mean I always though it be easier to swap the 5.4L 2v SOHC from the lightning, I mean everything should directly swap over since its generally the same vehicle just with a cap on it no?

no, it'll be cheaper to go with the 2 valve 5.4 and use your existing transmission or one identical to yours that's been built up

Yea but doesn't the Lightning use the 2V SOHC, the expedition uses that as well right?

YES, the lightnings are 2 valve motors (SOHC)

the terminator cobras are a 4 valve motor (DOHC)

Thanks, so Id be much better off just getting the whole Lightning drivetrain just to swap in? as opposed to the terminator motor.

just get either a cobra motor a lightning/harley truck motor AND USE YOUR EXISTING TRANSMISSION and ECM

I don't understand who got you off on this whole lets change the ECM BS, no reason to add extra cost or work to your swap

lets try this one more time gently and slowly you can use your existing transmission and ECM it wil be cheaper and easier in the long run VS changing transmissions, and everything that comes with the 4r100 swap (you may have a 4r100 already)

what year is your expedition???
2 or 4 wheel drive?

I don't own one, I am just throwing ideas out there, I plan to buy one as a DD and I though I make some fun with it.
