2001 hesitates and throws mass air sensor code

I have an 01 with a 5.4 and airaid intake. the service engine light comes on and says the MAF is not getting enough power. When you put it in gear and push on the gas it hesitates for about a second and then takes off.... ??? I have cheked all the wiring and fuses and everything looks fine...

what was the actual code number? check the power going to the maf-should have a 5v(wont be exactly 5v, but fairly close) reference.

Make sure all tubing is snug and trace wiring for splits or connectors loose

It is possible that the maf's sensor wires are dirty, and not heating up correctly, which is seen by the pcm as low voltage. Maybe? Try cleaning the maf with CRC spray cleaner.

Oiled air filters can and do foul the MAF. Spray it down with CRC MAF cleaner.

A P0102 cannot be caused by a contaminated MAF sensor.

Either the sensor is bad, the PCM is bad, or there is a wiring fault in the MAF circuit.

See the PCED for the diagnostic procedure.

Is there any way to diagnose the difference between a bad PCM or MAF?

Yes. Follow the procedure in the Power-train Control/Emissions Diagnosis manual.

..or just guess.
