wierd electrical problem

okay so i went to oreilly auto parts earlier and as i walked in i locked my truck like usual, i came back out and the truck unlocked w/ the keyless entry, i get in to start the truck and nothing... radar didnt turn on, radio wouldnt turn on and niether would my gps, so i pop the hood tryin to figure out the problem, i check my battery connection since the battery is only about 8 months old, and i moved my ground wire about an inch and all of a sudden all my lights popped back on and the truck started up fine now problems, it was resting against a piece of metal and i figured it was a short of some kind, then i looked at the wire and there was not exposed copper anywhere, any ideas what this could be?

may have just simply been that it didnt have a good connection with the terminal or the battery post or to the block or whatever. check the ground connections.
