Help! fuel filler neck problem!

So I go to put gas in my truck and it starts dripping. When I get home I'm poking around and my finger goes right threw the fuel filler neck with no effort. Well I started to take it off, and I couldn't get the hose clamps off where the filler neck goes into the rubber tube before it bends down to go to the tank. Well after about 20 minutes, the main neck that comes off the gas tank broke half way. After that happened I decided to the the other hose clamp with a di-grinder so I didn't break that neck also. Well the main neck off the gas tank that the rubber hose goes around broke off. There is about 1 inch still on the tank. So I shoved the hose back on there all the way down and put on a new hose clamp. Is this going to be alright or last? If not, is there anyway to strengthen it without buying a new gas tank? Hope this is understandable.

James

Alright, well I mean there is a good inch into the rubber hose and seems to be pretty solid. But I mean going over bumps and the vibrations shouldn't make it come loose will it?

If you had to stretch the hose to fit it on, too short, it may over time pull off. What I would do is find a length of tube, exhaust pipe will work, and cut the rubber hose in the middle. The exhaust tube would become an extension of the rubber hose with clamps at both ends. This would lengthen the rubber hose to take up the slack that was removed when installing the end on the gas tank. You should add just enough extension so that the rubber hose is a bit longer and it exerts pressure on the gas tank fitting to keep it pushed on the fitting.

i think that's what mine has, it stinks like gas after i drove hard or when i feel the tank all the way but there is something weird that when i'm fueling my car it wont stop by itself when it filled up.
