Fuel Filter Preference

I know the Motorcraft parts are actually decent quality, but is there another brand recommended for fuel filters? I just checked Advance Auto, and both the Fram and Purolator fuel filters are actually a few dollars cheaper than the Motorcraft.

I would not use anything Fram makes. DO NOT use their oil filters on a Ford. Purolater is fine, but no more than it costs, I prefer using Motorcraft.

I might try a Purolator, but Fram fuel filters can be a bear to get back off from what I hear. You can't go wrong with a stock Motorcraft.

I actually use a Fram Air Filter, as they appear to be high quality as I compared it side by side with my dirty MotorCraft Air Fliter that needed replacing. The Fram was quite a bit cheaper at Walmart also! That is all I would ever use that they make!......

That's 1 thing more of Fram than I would use. I would be amazed if the filtering quality actually matched, much less exceeded MC.

A Fram Air Filter can cost you a Motor. Quicker than their Oil Filters can lol.

Seriously! The adheisive/glue that holds the inner cone breaks down. The cone falls off. This bi-passes the filter.

I've seen it happen.. Twice in this Forum.

I had been using fram fuel filters, and have always had a stroke trying to get them off. After reading in this forum, I started using Motor craft. But haven't had to change one out yet. I'll know when that time comes if the Motor craft releases better. I will be replacing one in a week or so.

With the style of the tray pop in air filter on the 2007's, I'm not very worried about that!.......It's quite a fool proof design........

Thumbs down

I'm not sure about those. I'm referring to the 97-03 air filters. Forgot to mention that.

I'm shocked - you are so **** you go out and buy a lifetime supply of old style FL820S's, but you use a FRAM air filter??????

Like I stated I compared the two side by side, including gaskets. The MotorCraft showed no signs of being superior, only in price!.......
