cam

There is only few cams for 3v

I put the FFRP hot rod cams in my f150. Pretty easy, if you have some mechanical knowledge AND take your time.
Hardest part, pulling out tappet covers.
If you do cam install, good time to change out your phasers while your in there. If you have a lot of miles, pull front cover and replace tensioners and chain while in there too (won't need wedge then) But timing is critical

You Will Need a tune when done. I recommend going on a dyno and getting it done.
If i don't sell mine in about...few weeks. I'm going to spend the money and go on a dyno and get everything retuned for most performance

Wrenches, INCH lbs and Ft lbs torque wrench, wedge for putting down to keep timing chain on,PATIENTS. You can carefully walk the cam down, so you don't need lifter remover.

cams

these are over head cams. You don't need to pull motor.

If you only change cams and phasers (you don't have to change phasers, but if there ticking)

While you got stuff off too after you put or before you pull covers. Change out your plugs too, if they haven't been already done.

IF you pull everything, then you worry about timing, IF you decide to just change out cam (if phasers too) Need wedge, grease pen/or paint marker. Wedge keeps chain falling off crank and grease pin marks chain for Correct Touth on the phaser sprocket

Changing out cams is not cheap, just cams is 800-900.00 per set or more. You will need a New phaser bolts (only can use them once) Actually more, becuase you will need a tune or dyno done too.

Honestly, depending what your after, more torque or performance there is Better bang for the dollar performance option AND easier! Like a Tune from PHP

If you are dead set on cams, email me and i can send you a PDF of how to install cams/phasers
middaughm@charter.net

OR just buy my truck (everything is already done)

cams

here is a link. This is my truck and what it sounds like
http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=JJ...&feature=email

I have truck listed in the classifieds, rather than type everything out. lol

If or when i sell. I'm going to get a bigger vehicle, like an excursion and probably do up a older truck again (i have thing for them oldies,50,60's)

i believe actually the gryphon will give more best all around. The cams keep stock torque offline, but increases in RPM. I can tell big time about 2000rpm

cams

how long did it take me?

i'm really not sure

If i did another set, i could get it done in one day easy, after first set. Probably...i could do a set now in 6-8 hours.
You could do it in one day, if you have the tools (like mentioned earlier, plus the standard 1/4 drive sockets, extensions and 1/2

it seemed longer to get the valve covers off, They just don't pull out. LMAO
, then to unbolt caps, take cams out, take phasers off and put them back on.

timing

correct, if you just do cam and phasers. You don't have to worry about the TDC. You have to follow a different precedure

Yeah, your a distance! lol

If you worked on older motors and tore them apart and did cams in them. You should be able to do a cam change out. I have the ford write on it too. Give torque specs, etc...

I'm not sure how much more i'm going to be on again. Seems i always have something going on.
Just talked to my mom yesterday. My dad JUST got back from doctor and was having pains and hard time breathing, they did some test, then did some more tests... has less than 2 months too live now Just all of a sudden! Needless to say I WAS FLOORED!! Cancer in lungs and its wrapped around his heart, attached to main arota, lost over 30lbs within one month.

just letting you know if email or pm Might take some time to answer possibly

mike
