Ok procharging and i have a question

I am procharging a 2001 f150 Screw with 160000 on the engine and chassis. I want to know if i should put in new rod and main bearings??? Several people that i have asked have said no but i want to get an opinion from someone who has maybe done this before. Your help is greatly appreciated.

#1 what procharger kit are you installing? which motor?

#2 why would you change bearings and leave the crappy stock rods in place???

#3 have you done a leak test on the motor? compression test??

#4 has the motor been maintained?

#5 when is the last time you changed COPs / coil packs wires and plugs?

#6 when is the last time you changed the fuel filter?

#7 are you going to run the FMU or are you going the good way and adding fuel mods with a tune??

I would really consider replacing..

The piston rings, valve job at a minimu.

Placing pressure on an engine that old is asking for trouble IMHO.

spark plugs YES, if he replaces the rings he'd have to change the bearings as well, if you're tearing into the motor why leave the crappy weak stock rods and pistons in place????

he'll be fine with a good tune and less than 15# of intercooled boost from a small head unit as long as his leak check comes back ok

A Procharger my friend is a centrifugal supercharger, which means that it slightly resembles a turbo but belt driven. hopefully this helps

I am putting on the 8-9 psi kit with intercooler on a 2v 5.4L

well if im gunna be in the motor im gunna bore, new pistons and rings, forged rods, and forged crank. just wondering if i should.

No leak test (what does it test exactly???) and before it goes on (i have to put new bearings and seals in the procharger, it is used, before it can go in it needs bearings) i will do another compression test with a good tester because i used a crappy one and it said i was like between 55 and 85 psi low on all cylinders but i have absolutely no blowby so i dont think that cam be right.

Well as long as i have had the truck i have put in heavyweight full synthetic every 3000-5000 miles and all other maintenence has been done.

COPs need to b replaced before it is done.

Dunno on the fuel filter but it is on the list to b replaced.

And YES i am a FIRM BELIEVER IN TUNING!!!! it is the only way to go for power and safety...To me it is a NO BRAINER!! dunno about injectors but ill look into it.

hey guys arguing over paxton vs procharger....In my opinion Procharger is better, i mean look at the numbers procharger is better for HP gains so to me it is obvious, plus im getting the kit cheap used.

BAD idea - the clearances are such on a Triton that you aren't getting good lubrication on a cold start. Gas mileage is not the only reason Ford specifies a 5W20 oil.
