New intake causing engine light
New intake causing engine light
I recently made an intake using a 4" ump Filter housing. It uses a 3 1/2"-4" reducer into a 4" elbow which runs straight to the filter. The air flow sensor is secured in the elbow as pictured. I have not obtained a code yet but i think the 4" intake is causing the air flow sensor to not register correctly. My question is if i get an Gryphon Programmer can i calibrate the air flow sensor or do i have to get a custom tune?

My goodness man, have you not seen any of the warnings on here about increasded airflow on an 04 with the 5.4? They tended to come from the factory in a near lean condition. Any increased airflow can damage the engine unless you have a custom tune.
My choice is a custom tuned Gryphon, but the Xcal3 is good, tuned by Troyer.

get that intake off before you blow your engine (don't re-install it until you get your custom tune loaded)
a custom tune is the only way to go

I think i will just leave it on. If the engine goes i have an excuse to get a new one.
