oil use

i have a 2002 f-150 with the 5.4. it runs in texas..houston to be exact.
i have used only 5-20w mobil one synthetic since i bought this truck new in 2001. i currently have about 205k on it. runs like it did the day i bought it..well except for un-neutering it with a few mods. I do a compression test about once a year and it is still at spec and i use about 2 quarts in 3500 miles. no leaks....but i will check my pcv...i did change it, but wasnt motorcraft.

LONG LIVE THE 5.4.......Best motor ever made overall......until the 3-valve came out.

guess i'm going to ford monday to replace the aftermarket PVC valve I just installed a month ago, lol. I wonder how much oil "use" in our ford's is just due to the light 5-20 oil wt? Esp w/ synthetic oils? Most of my subarus and nissans never needed oil, but my BMW boxer motorcycles always need a drink every 1000 miles or so....maybe clearance related??

Some engines burn oil, some don't. Identical engines using the same oil can vary a lot.

There are allot of guys here who only use 1/2 a quart in 5000.. The engine I have now use's very little oil. I have a small leak in the oil filter bypass line but I still almost never put oil in.

My V-6 has used a quart every 6k since I got it - it had 55k on it and it now has 149k. The last Ford V-6 I had was a Taurus, and it used a quart every 2.5k.

5 quarts in 80k? Do you ever change it?

Be specific. It uses a quart every how many miles?
