Smile Fuel Filter??

How often should the fuel filter be changed? By reading around some ppl say 10,000k, some say 100,000k. I have 55,000k on my 07 F-150. Does it need a new fuel filter?

I change mine every 20,000. If you saw what runs out of the filtered side, you would change it. Nasty. They are cheap and takes about 15 minutes, so why not?

If you have never done it before, use the Search feature and there should be lots of help. You need a special tool that costs about $10 or less and I pay about $13 for Motorcraft filters. The dealer gets $69 for a change and the quick lube joint gets $49.

My be possible, but you don't want to try it. It's a line release tool, same as used for air conditioning connections. There are two types, a metal one and a plastic. The plastic works better as it is thinner. It slides up in the hose and releases a clip. All parts stores carry them.

Look at post 18. nasty.

Also the metal tool is shown and then look at post 68 to see the plastic version. I highly recommend the plastic. I had the metal and had to go back and get the plastic. The metal one is too thick on some filters.
