Unhappy Failure to launch

Truck: 1985 Ford F150 XLT Lariat 4x4 351w 135xxx miles, never been overhauled. Daily driver... well, was

spark plugs and wires were replaced about 1,000 miles ago
ignition coil was replaced today
it just cranks but never starts up, as if there's no spark, or like there's no gas firing. I seem to be getting power from the distributor, but none from the other side. Carburator is giving gas, and i have half a tank of gas. I haven't checked since I got the new ignition coil if i have a spark but i will be checking that tomorrow as it's been raining all day today.

wrong with the truck that i know of:
i'm almost positive the lifters are somewhat loose, could that have anything to do with it?

Easiest way to tell if it's fuel or spark is to have someone get on the key and take the air cleaner off. You want to be able to get a straight shot into the carb. Get some Quick Start. Have them hit the start and give it a shot into the carb. while it's turning over. (only 1/2 to 1 second shot) If it starts instantly, it's a fuel problem. If it makes no attempt to start, it's ignition problem. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO KEEP IT RUNNING WITH QUICK START! This is only to get it started or check if it's fuel or spark.
