1997 cam swap

I'm new to the Ford side of things but really enjoy my 1997 F-150 XL 4x4. It needs some tlc but I don't mind. I was thinking about doing a cam swap with the comp cams XE262H. Its a replacement for the stock cams with better torque. Anyone tried it yet or have have any ideas? Thanks.

what motor?? 4.6 or 5.4?

when you do the cam swap might as well do the PI top end and gain some more power while you're at it

built54 had the 102500 in his truck with all the bolt ons and 24# injectors in his old motor and had great results

I have the 262's in my 4.6 truck and they are fine. I can't say what the performance increase was or felt like, because I did several other mods when I installed the cams. IMO, cams and springs are an expensive upgrade and a lot of work for the gain of 30-35 hp.

It's got the 4.6 in it and yes I agree its a lot of work. I was on the comp cams site and looking at 268 as well and may look into those as well. I have read about the PI heads and intake what year are they from? Or is it easier to port and polish my stock heads and intake?
