Coil packs making engine miss?
Coil packs making engine miss?
Alright so long story short I got in an accident and then got the car from the body shop and had a code p0307(miss in the 7th cylinder). I then took it to the ford dealership, they then said that they could not pull the coil pack because the screw that hold it in is cross threaded and if they take it out they wont be able to put a new one in with out replacing the intake?? The thing is the dealership I took it too changed my plugs about 20000 miles ago and were the ones that cross threaded the screw, does anyone know if they are liable for this?? And also what could make the cylinder miss?? (nothing was wrong before the wreck...)
Thanks for the help, its a 2002 5.4l

Use penetrating oil to lube the threads. Back it off 1/4 turn and tighten it 1/8 turn. Repeat till the bolt is out. If you twist the head off before it is out you may have enough sticking out to use vice grips to remove it. Once it is out chase the threads. You could always drill a new hole next to it and use a zip tie to hold the coil in place.

Alright an update, there were 3 cylinders that were misfiring now, they changed one plug and cp at cost, because they messed it up when they changed them earlier. Now they are saying they have to change two plugs two cp and they need to change the dpfe sensor which I have never even heard of... But they said it was going to cost 750 dollars... I think that is a little too much and I definitely think im getting screwed over, so Im taking it to a mechanic we are family friends with and see what he says, thanks for the responses.
Spark plug, Coil Over Plug (COP), Fuel injector, electrical, PCM and finally engine mechanical can cause misfire. Are these people that are saying that you need a DPFE the same people that cross threaded your COP bolt? If yes, leave.....
Are there any codes stored?
