1995 Taurus pinging

hey guys, my mom's Taurus has 130,000 some miles on it, greaat car and everything, runs strong and everything. but it has always had a pinging noise to it. what would you guys think it is? has recent spark plugs, fuel filter and things of that nature. could it possibly be a clogged cat converter? if anyone has ideas it would be great. thanks alot for any help!

Does it go away if you use premium gas?

Dirty fuel injectors. We clean them with a concentrated fluid in a pressurized bottle with the fuel system unhooked. Could be carbon build up on the pistons, too. That causes it to raise the compression, and the carbon absorbs some of the fuel and keeps it from igniting right away.
