Mobil 1 question.
Standard Mobil 1 is good for 7500, EP is good for 15k. (miles) However, I wouldn't go quite that far - 5k is good for standard and 10k is good for EP. You can use a standard filter such as a Motorcraft for 5k, but I'd use a Mobil 1 filter if you want to go past 7500. If you want to change it every 3k, don't waste your money on Mobil 1, just use the Motorcraft semi-synthetic.
I'm using Havoline or Pennzoil yellow bottle and changing at 7500 miles. My wear metals are always single digit and the TBN is still above 2.0 which means there is still life in the oil. Mobil One in the 5w-20 has a HT/HS rating of 2.6 which is absolutely the bottom of the acceptable limits to be classified as a Ford spec 930. HT/HS is directly related to bearing wear wear. A 2.8 rating is considered normal, anything higher yields more mileage from the bearings. There are far better oils out there for far less money in this viscosity rated oil. You can easily run any Ford speced oil 5000 miles without any issues or expensive filters. Read and understand your owners manual concerning the oil recommended and change intervals.

If I ever had a thought about switching to Mobil 1, -after all that's been going on, intuition would have killed it.

Not to add another log to the fire, (okay, maybe it is) but I run Mobil 1 synthetic in every car I've owned since 2002.
It's been good to me through 3 different vehicles now, including trackdays and autocross in the Acura which was frequently revved to 8,800RPM.

Common, the sky is not falling - That lines for drama queens .

But we all know, when the majority calls "white" -white, - you call it "Black". - Because that's the way you roll.

my grandfather changes his oil at 10,000 miles. with regular oil, not synthetic. and as far as i know he has never had any problems with anything. he's lucky though. if i did that my engine would probably lock up. i use mobil 1 and i change mine around 3500-4000 miles.
