Spark Plug Gap

I have an 07 F-150 5.4 what should the spark plug gap be. My owners manual says .040-.050 but all the searches I've done people are using .044 or .054 I got different answers even at the car parts places around here. I'm getting ready to do them this weekend and any help will be appreciated.

The gap is not adjustable with those plugs unless you have a very late 07 with the revised heads. Make SURE you read the TSB before you attempt to pull the plugs.

I'm not sure - Just make sure the gap in your manual is referencing the 5.4L engine SPECIFICALLY. - The plugs are completely different, since you have 3 valve heads.

I'll look it up later if you don't get a reply from someone who knows for sure. I would trust the Manual at this point and the plugs generally come pre-gaped, but yea, you should confirm gap and keep it the same on all 8.

Also - Look up "Spark Plug TSB" . It's crucial you have the Ford Bulletins before attempting this on your own. Procedures have changed, -you'll want the latest one out. - I believe you have to soak the plug chambers, then crack them loose, -just an 1/8 turn and let them soak again. - You MUST follow this.

Do some research first for the best results.

Ford made this a PITA and it could cost you if you go about it wrong.

Have a question, can't find info? Just keep asking for help, you'll get it here.

Good Luck

BTW - I didn't see glc's post before I submitted mine. Look for those TSB's -Their here in the engines forum. Wait! I think there's one in the "How To's" now? Idk -Check it out.
