big question!

just found a 1999 ford f150 5.4L with only !!!!!!38,000 miles!!!!!! it is a extended cab short box... they only want 9,995 for it... is this a good deal? or are they sellin it this cheap for a reason... casue its junk?

one more question... found a 2002 f150 with the 5.4L its a 4 door short box with 70,000 or so on it... they want 14,000 isnt that a bit steep?

my last question is... what is the diffrence in the 3V and the 2V 5.4L... and what year did they switch to the 3V?

I had a friend just buy a 2001 F150 FX4 70k for 12 thousand. I thought that was kinda harsh for the year. But for the mileage it was pretty good. 38 thousand kind of makes me wonder, but for that price its hard to resist. And the difference, extra valve was supposed to give it more power. As for year, I couldnt tell ya exactly.

They changed to the 3v in 2004. If you have the carfax and it all checks out good I would think thats a pretty good deal.

Prices are pretty close to fair. Maybe a little on the high side, but not much IMO. If the 99 has a 4r100 trans and a 4x4, I'd be all over it if I was looking.

You really need to check them out well,-in person and don't let the low mileage fool yuh as far as engine health.

The 5.4L has a higher residual value. Keep that in mind when looking @ the different models.

the 99 is an automatic and its 4X4... that is why i want it so damn bad... ill talk to the banker and see what he thinks... i think its a hell of a deal... bad thing is i have to trsut people on this one casue its 1,100 miles away from me... but with 38,000 not much can happen and carfax says everything is golden on it.

i bought my 98 two years ago with 38,295 miles on it for $9,300. So far, I have had to replace......nothing!

Seriously this thing is the most reliable truck I've ever owned and everyone that sees it can't

A) believe how few miles it has (63k now)
B) believe that it doesn't leak (it is a Ford after all!!)

I have done literally nothing to this truck other than routine maintenence and added a few small mods. It starts up every morning and never hiccups like some of the newer trucks I read about here.

the 4.6 does just fine by me. sure i wish i had the 5.4 but it was too good of a deal to pass up. plus i wanted a manual trans and you can't get one with the 5.4...now you can't get one period

when i buy my new truck it will have the 5.4 (or 6.2 or whatever it is by then) and this one i have now will be my off road beast, so the 4.6 will do just fine.

1999 with 38k miles should sell for like 7k. i picked up an 03 supercrew xlt 5.4 with about 4k in extras only 42k miles and i paid 9k here in so cal. in this economy you can get a badass truck for 12k with low mileage. good luck

Yea, I have the 98 as well - No problems here, I'm just over a quarter million miles. Doesn't leak or use any oil. I work it as well, in fact it's hooked to about 7500 lbs right now and will pulling for the next 4 days lol. That's a little heavier than I usually pull. It's got a hell of allot of miles, but you wouldn't know it. Damn good trucks!!

Nothing wrong with the 4six - She has work a little harder down low than the 5four, but it will do the job - Hell with a stick, you wouldn't have a problem working her anyway. That's a good set up

Yea but does it have a 4R100 or 4r70w ? Allot of 99's w/5.4L got the new 4R100 that year. It will say inside the drivers door.

Trans Code "E" = Heavy Duty Trans (E4OD/4R100), it will be here -

Trans Code "U" = Standard Duty Trans (4r70w) -
