am i screwed??
am i screwed??
finished my pulley install yesterday and put on my new slp exhaust because the hanger broke off the other but it was warrantied so no prob there. drove it last night and smelled a light burning oil scent maybe once or twice but figured it was the wd40 that i used to free up the exhaust clamps and also to help remove the crank pulley. then this morning it was windy and i started my truck to leave and a small cloud of blue smoke went whizzing passed my window on the exhaust side. now i kno what this means and i know the things it could be. i smelled it maybe one more time while driving and parked the truck about 6 hours. when i restarted there was no smoke and no smell on the way home. id love to write it off as a flouke or something to do with the wd40 but its on my mind and any input would be great. truck has just under 89000 on the ticker
if you had brand new pipes installed on ur slp exhaust u will smell a funky scent from the pipes being heated up..ull smell it on and off whenever u start and turn the truck off. as far as the blue smoke it might be caused by engine oil entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture.....and is usually seen with higher mileage trucks...
have you done anything else to your truck lately? pcv valve? is your oil level still good? you saw the blue smoke only when you started the engine? i dont think its anything serious but keep an eye on the oil level just in case. is the air filter clean?
