Well, it's always been clear in my mind. Maybe my mind is not correct, but when someone says 400 Ford, I think small block. If they say 360 or 429, I think big block. It just depends on the family they belong to, and if you look at them, there is a lot of difference is the size of the blocks and where they will fit.

There was even some rerouting of water flow and some Clev heads were bolted on 289s and 302s. Kind of a hybrid Boss 302.

To this day the way to get the most power out of a windsor style block is to use cleveland stlye heads. They have been winning the engine masters challenge that way the last couple of years.

The high winding 289 and the 351 C are my all time favorite engines. They could really put out some power for their size.

Actually the boss 302 was a hybrid windsor block cleveland head.

Not sure what you mean. The Boss heads were different from Clev heads in the way the water passages flowed. If I remember correctly, the Boss 302 head was a straight bolt on with the correct intake. To put a Clev head (one off a 351C) on a 289, you had to have a special intake that rerouted the water and I think you had to put some plugs somewhere. Those intakes were referred to as Boss 351 intakes. I never did it myself, but had a friend that did. It's been over 20 years since I have thought about this stuff! There were also the 351 Australian heads, too.

The Boss 302 head is canted like a cleveland head. They are more like a cleveland head then they are a windsor. a 70 or 71 4v cleveland head can be made to replace a damaged boss 302 head.
