Engine squeak at WOT shift??

the truck:
05 F150. 5.4l V8
52000 miles

Mods:
Nitto 275 70 18
level kit
AEM CAI
Gryphon Tuner w/ custom tunes

The problem:
when at WOT, I get a squeak which sounds like a bad belt, when the transmission shifts.

The Circumstance:
This doesnt happen often, just when I am at WOT (just before shifting) and the ending shifts. until today I have only had it happen when at WOT and let off the gas quick because of a car cutting me off. But, I am afraid it is getting more common. I was getting on the freeway today, at WOT, and got the squeak again when it shifted. This never happened until I put the intake in the truck. I ran the intake for about 3 months without the custom tunes because I was waiting for them. During that time, I only heard it once, but that was during the winter so I didnt have my window open much so it could have happened more.

This does not happen during normal driving, and I can only hear it when my window is open. Is this something I should be worried about? Simple need for a new belt, or could it be a sign of something failing with the tranny or pullies? The sound seems to come from the front of the engine which is why I think it may be the belt. Would the belt really be going bad at only 52k miles?

also, is it normal for the f150 to be noisy when warming up? Some ticking, etc.

Thanks in advance!!

replace your belt with good one (such as a gator back belt) I bet it cures the issue

It is the belt. Do a search for gatorback here and you will find that the squeal at the shift is very common after a year or two of wear on the OE belt. Considering at WOT the accessories are turning at the equivalent of 5k and suddenly go down to 2k, it is not surprising the belt slips.

Thanks for the help everyone . I feel better knowing it is probably just the belt. I will definitely upgrade to a gatorback belt.

Check your tensioner while you have the belt off - it should be good and free. The belt tensioner can stiffen up with time and add to the problem. The belt is very likely your problem, but the tensioner can make the problem come back prematurely by accellerating your belt wear.

yes definitely the belt.

All the accessories sprinning up to 5000 rpms, then all the sudden a fast shift, and they are now trying to go 3000 rpms, so the belt will slip on the waterpump for a second while everything catches up.

Yep, a Gatorback belt will eliminate the noise.

Is that a serious question? If so , ask your girlfriend, she can probably change it for you

It's suggested By Gatorback to change your tensioner at the SAME TIME you change the belt. This should be a rule of thumb and followed, -tensioners wear out with time as well.

For more info and data, just head over to Rock Auto/ Look up you belt and click "info" . Gatorback explains.
