slow starts

i just bout my 04 f150 about a week ago and it seems to start really slow. and my volt meter in the truck drops really low i was wondering if any one else has this prob and knows how to fix it. i was thinking about adding a second battery to it to see if that would help. any ideas on why it does this?

mod if this is the wrong section please move it.

If it has the original battery, it is 5 years old. About the right life span of a battery. Don't add one, try replacing the one you have.

This just happened to me on my 04, the battery was the original so I decided I was due anyway, I purchased an Optima Red Top battery for 189.00 at the parts store, It starts great.

Think of the slow start as your lil warning that the end is near...at least it didn't leave you stranded somewhere right!

i was gonna go with a optima battery but dont want to spend 189 bucks for a battery. i had a dura last blue top in my bagged s10 and in my 4runner and it ran just as good as if not better then the yellow top my friend had.

but i looked under the hood today and my - battery terminal has corrosion all over it so im gonna see if they will replace it for free since i just bought the truck.
