Porting PI heads

After my motor swap I decided to keep my old motor. I still have everything and its just sitting in my buddies garage. I was thinking about popping the heads off and trying to port them myself. I have never done a set of heads before but have been doing a fair bit of research on the subject. All of the articles i have read the heads they are not overhead cam motors. I am curious to know if there is anything I should know before attempting it. I am not that concerned about ruining them because they are just sitting there doing nothing but would like to come out successful and hopefully throw them on my truck with some custom ground cams one day.

I would call, - just to port might be around $500 - If they will even do it without installing new valves.
