Help

I recently purchased an 03 HD F150 wtih 103K on it. I have noticed that when I stomp on the accelorator in about 60ft it starts surging. I took it to the dealer and was told that my tranny (3rd gear) was just about gone. I was also told by another tech at the dealership to get a second opinion as the tech that looked at my truck likes to stretch things. He said either the tranny is gone or not!

I find it strange that this only occurs when I accelorate hard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

that thing goes into 3rd gear within 60ft? if you bought the truck from a dealer then there should be some kind of warranty. is it missing or slipping or the rpm jumps up?

I did buy it from a dealer; however, bought it as is. It has 103K miles on it, do not know of a dealer that would provide a warrenty!!

I do not agree that it is shifting into or already in third gear in 60ft that is what the dealer tech said. I just find it strange that it ONLY messes up when I accelorate hard. It doesn't matter if I am crusing down the highway and 60 and stomp it or taking off from a dead stop. If I stomp it it will run GREAT for about 60 feet and then it starts to baugh down and then pick up and keep repeating until I let out of it.

Have you by chance bothered to change the transmission fluid? When I buy a used car or truck I always assume the worst, it has had no maintenance and I do it ALL. Sounds fishy to me the truck shouldn't go into 3rd when accelerating in 60 feet. I think it just needs a tune up.
