Engine Hesitation

Hey guys I have a 99 f150 with a 5.4L v8 and I have noticed its been hesitation during acceleration lately. I then realized I haven't gotten a check engine light come on the dash yet. I have 164,000 on the stock plugs in my truck and wondered how difficult it would be to change them since I have heard so many horror stories on the plug threads in the heads on these trucks I work on all of my cars and have changed out clutches motors and many other major repairs to a car but that thread thing in the head scares me so I have been thinking of letting dealer change the plugs can anyone offer some advise whether I should even attempt this or just take to the dealer?

If your mechanically inclined with experience and have the tools, a plug change in a 99 is not a big deal.
Use the search function on this forum and you will find answers, proceedures, etc. Go to Jbrews personal info and check through his thread postings, he has a ton of info and has the same truck as you. He also has excellent pic's in his albums. 164k on original plugs.......WOW.
There are actually alot of members on this site that you could check their posts and threads as well.

Yea I thought so too.. I guess I will spend one day this weekend to change them. the only spot that looks rough is the back ones I will use a 1/4 socket for those so I will have more space.

I have no idea what the model looks like, but on the new body style, it helps to take the PCM off the firewall on the apssenger side. A guy that can reall help you is Jbrew. Send him a PM, he probably hasn't seen the thread.
