The best for your truck and for power increase is long-tube headers!
It's not worth the time, money & trouble to put the short headers on and they wont help your power any.

has anyone ever blown the manifold gasket because of the headers? my uncle works at mesa mufflers here in AZ and he told me that its a waste of time to get them because you will always be replacing them left and right.

is this true?

Kinda true,,,but pretty much old school attitude.
If they are not installed properly(not tight enough),with the proper hardware (locking header bolts) you could have a problem.
Same thing I was told 20 years ago..lol
Back then you had to keep up with tightening them every so often.
But with a good set of bolts ,,you should never have a problem!

Ya might find them cheaper on Summit's site.

buy a GOOD set of gaskets, most of the time the ones in the kit are garbage and thats why they blow. I went with SCE copper gaskets and they are doing the job well. OEM are also very good gaskets as well. The key is don't cheap out if you don't want headeraches.
