Unhappy engine replacement

I wasn't sure if this should go in marketplace or not. Sorry if it's the wrong category.

I need a new used engine for my 2000 f150, a 5.4L. I've written down all the salvage and used autoparts places in the area and plan to call them tomorrow. Back in my home town the salvage yard said they had 5.4's for around $1500. Is there somewhere on the internet the might be better or a little cheaper? money is really tight but i don't want a 300k ragged out piece of crap either.

Ford dealership told me they could fix the rod bearing but said it would cost $1500. The whole reason this happened is my truck apparently had a slow oil leak i didn't catch fast enough between changes.

Just looking for some tips on finding an engine and I need it relatively quick as the vehicle i'm borrowing needs to be returned to the owner soon. thanks for any input.
