Gas tank?

i have a 97 f-150 4.6L 2WD ext cab with a 6 foot bed and the 25 gallon tank it has a huge dent in the tank with a slow drip i am looking to replace it but dont wanna pay 350 bucks for a new tank. a member on here is getting an expy tank and his old one will be sitting around i was wonder if it will fit

he has an 01 supercrew 4wd with the 5.4 and its a 23 gallon tank. will this still go into the stock location without probs? or do i need the 25 gal. tank?

if you can get the mounting bands and the sender unit I don't see why it wouldn't fit or work

you actually have a 6.5' bed, not 6'

anyways the ext cab and supercrew are same wheel base, but slightly different frames. Im not sure that it will work, it shouldnt matter 4x4 or 2x4 but I would stick to same cab size.

Don't know if this will help you or if you would even wanna do it. A gas thief drilled my tank on my box truck. They were hittin everyone. Found a screw that would fit the hole and tightened it up. Sealed the screw up with JB tank repair. Been over a year and not 1 drip.

I think what hillbilly4u is referring to . - If you drill a hole in the center of the dent, you might be able to pull it out with a dent puller.

Then describes how to fix the hole after doing so, and that the fix is still working.

Hope the EPA doesn't see your post or those fellas are gonna be in deep stuff. LoL. Even in these hills, tanks have to be removed before a junk or recycling yard will even let you on their property.
