What did it do, rust out ? The bolt (8mm) is behind the drivers side manifold. Tube is held in the block by 2 o-rings. Remove bolt/loosen seal/pull up.

Really, I don't know of anyone that had to re-route the tube - including myself.

Oh well, good luck.

Headers with a 1 piece flange has to have the tube removed to bolt the headers to the head. jbrew don't your pacesetters have a one piece flange?

See red arrow 1 in picture. It shows a 1 piece flange. Red arrow 11 shows the dipstick tube. It has to go on the outside of the flange. On some setups it is easier to remove the tube rather than slide it up over the tube. With my shorties it is impossible to slide it over. No room. EDIT: Picture courtesy of jbrew

Tip: Before you tighten up the headers slide the tube back into the hole. When the headers are tight it may be too late because in some instances you need to move the headers a bit to slide the tube into the hole. Been there done that sold the t-shirt. Had the headers on nice and snug and the ~!@#$%^&*()ing tube would not slide into the hole. had to remove every last bolt and then move the headers to allow the tube to slide home.

Yea, one piece flange. I had to tweak the tube a bit in order to get it centered w/block port. I had to do this after the headers were torqued tho. I couldn't get wrench on the flange bolt with that in the way. Yea , it wasn't fun, specially using a 4six tube. If you noticed, that isn't a 5four tube. Anyway, I had to get the bend just about perfect for it to line up w/block port. I got it to seat in the port first, then cut shims to shove in between the block and tube, then bend it again while in place to the bolt hole. PITA

Didn't need to re-route tho.

I have to find a way to lengthen the handle on mine. It is underneath the blower and I burn my hand every time I check the oil on a hot engine.
