How to test my Coil Packs

I have used the search but have found differing reports on what the primary and secondary readings should be. I also am not yet clear on exactly how I test. I have a 97 4.6L. Thanks in advance for any help!

you would hook an ohm meter to it. use the pic below to go with the numbers.

primary- hold pos lead on #6 and put neg on #5 and then after you get that reading put the neg on #7 to get your second primary reading.

secondary- put pos on #1 and neg on #3. then put pos in #2 and neg in #4 for your second secondary reading.

Excellent info! Can you also tell me how to test my plug wires?

just put 1 lead at one end and the other lead at the other end of the wires.

Yes, I get that, but what reading should it have? Thanks!

I don't have the service data in front of me, but the general rule of thumb is that the wire's resistance should be around 12kOhms per foot, and not more than 50kOhms/foot.
