91 f150

I have a 91 F150 with a bad 5.0 and trans. I can get a 5.0 and trans from a 91 van. Will there be any problems with the switch? What else will I need?

as far as the engine goes they are exactly the same. but the mounting brackets on the front may need to be swapped over to yours.
what trans do you have and which does the van have? it has to have the same trans to work in your truck, unless you take the pcm out of the van.

Check the length of the transmission tail shaft - different wheel bases may have different length tail shafts. If they do not match, you can either change the tail shaft or the drive shaft (if you can find a match).

I have an AOD in the truck. I think the vans came with an AODE. Is this correct? If so, can I change the pcm and the wiring and be OK? I'm not worried about the driveshaft, as I have a guy who can lenhthen and shorten it as needed.

if thats the case then you'll have to use the other pcm. the aode is computer controlled where the aod uses tv pressure, etc

The 91 van did not have a AODE, maybe a E4OD or the AOD. If it is the E4OD then no your wiring will not work. You will have to use the wiring harness off the van for the transmission and engine. As noted above you will need to use the PCM out of the van also.

Just talked to the guy who has the motor and trans. He says the motor is a 302 and the trans is an AOD, and that the van with the bigger 350 didn't have the AOD. I assume I'll be OK with the switch.
