DING DING, DING, WE HAVE A WINNER.

Nice job Jethat, you nailed it.
One vac line will be blue and the other is pink.
This solenoid actuates the 4x4 actuator that is attached to the front axle.
How do I know, I just had a problem with my 4x4 actuating and it wasn't a vac problem but I had to check the vac system 1st.

Well, i had it accidently unplugged since i dropped the engine in about 3 months ago. Can this be the reason its so damn hard to shift into 4 lo? What does it do?

Holy crap...I plugged it in and test drove it today and...its like an entire different vehicle. I can easily notice that the trani shifts smoother (previously made a thread about rough shifts, outcome was possibley a bad tune) The power steering is ALOT more active and does not wine anymore? I used to have a heating problem where the heat would not get hot for about 15 mintes of driving now that works excellent? And the 4x is able to go into 4lo and hi with ease, as to double handing it before and forcing it to go in. Me and my brother can easily tell my exhaust got a little more quiet and raps a hole lot less (sounds way better anyways) but unfortunetly i noticed powerloss at mid to high end, low end not so much...Did those two hoses being unplugged punish the rest of the vaccumm system? WHAT THE HEAK???

you weren't locking in 4x4. Thos solenoids work the front differential without them no 4 wheel drive. I guess you have the floor shifter. mine is a switch. Bottom line is you now have 4 wheel drive again.

Frod - Yea that will effect more than the 4x4. - You would have no power assist on the brakes as well.

Yup, having an open vacuum line in the system will definately cause alot of the problems you were describing. Glad things are working again for you. Frustrating, working on vehicles sometimes, isn't it.

A vacuum leak that big could burn valves if not caught soon enough. I knew someone that had a vacuum leak that feeds the brake booster come loose. The cylinder closest to the vacuum port in the intake was dead and had a very noticeable miss.

Glad you solved the problem.
