Ouch.

Google searching the meanings of those codes would have been more productive by far.

make sure they got plugged ALL the way in. It can be kinda hard up in there getting them to click tight. Happened to me before...

Specially if you don't shave those ears on the connectors off first. I haven't had one match the stock connectors.

Good morning to all, Looks like my check engine light is completely out. It doesn't come on when I turn the ignition. That would explain why my check engine light is not coming on. I will replacing the bulb this week-end any how what about the 02 sensors. What else is causing the malfunction? I replaced them about 4 months ago and cleared all the codes. By the next day when I travel to any destination the same error codes came up. Could it be the computer or what.

Do you have remote start locks added on? If so remove the unit from the system and reset ecm unit. I have had trouble on several diffrent vechicles because of the remorts that are added on, not fractory, Ecm will give bad reading because it cannot reconise the addon. I have had to cut most all out of system, and all worked fine after that. Bad addon unit can cause many problems that aren;t there.

Yep, you got it. When the truck was made the ECM was not programed for it unless it is factorie. Therefore the ECM will not reconise it. The add on ties into the starting system as well as the locks and other systems. If the addon goes bad it screws up the ECM and causes it to send wrong codes.

Okay, Mine was installed before I picked up the truck in 98. I ordered it with the truck. Funny thing - The remote starter Ford installed doesn't include door locks. I have a separate remote for that.

Maybe that's why, they were having problems with the module/programming capability with the PCM, sort of like you said. I like it this way anyway.

NO do not plug the remote start back in untill you have driven the unit several miles to see if it was causing your trouble. If the light stays off that was the probem. If the light comes back on the ECM will tell you what is realy wrong with unit. Just fix that then plug the remote back in if you wish to do so. Best of Luck

Since your truck is a 97 I doubt this is the case but I have been wrong before. If it is you should be able to isolate the truck system from the remote system with a couple of diodes. I see no reason to cut out any of the starters system. The engine ecm for your truck should be fairly simple as well. Check your auto wreckers for another truck with the same engine and get the ECM. Don't think it would cost too much. If you find that all the ECM's are already removed from the trucks then it is a good bet that most were bad and yours likely is to. Or look for someone in your area on the forum that wouldn't mind helping you out and maybe piggy back a different ECM.

Good luck
