Crankning problem?
Crankning problem?
2008 F150 FX4 SCREW 5.4L v8. I drive about 55 miles a day during the week. I crank my truck on average about 15 times a day. When it gets colder out, sometimes it takes more time on the starter to crank. I got into the habit of just twisting the key, and letting off and hearing it crank, but now if I do that w/o thinking on a cold day, it will sputter and then crank - If I do remember, then I hold it down till I hear it crank, and no problems - it just takes a second longer or so to crank it. Anyone have any issues similar to this?
Thanks!
Thanks!
sometimes thats normal. sometimes on my 302 i'll go out and start it. it usually starts up almost as soon as i turn the key. but every now and then it'll take longer. just try cranking it until it starts. plus it will take longer to crank in cold weather because the battery cant put out as many cranking amps in the cold as in warm weather.

gotcha... Thanks! That's really good to hear that Im not the only one. I was kinda used to it on a 98 expy with a 5.4 I used to drive, but from the time I could drive to when I got my truck that thing would take at least 2-3 seconds to crank - every time... but yeah, I wasn't really expecting that with a newer truck. But it makes sense why it happens I guess.
