5.4 factory horsepower???

Just for kicks, I put my VIN into the decoder at the fleet maintenance site. It states that the 5.4 has a stated 250 hp? Advertised to have 300. What gives?

5.4 3v= 300hp 365ft lbs torque

5.4 2v w/pi heads= 250hp 350ft lbs torque

5.4 2v w/o pi heads= like 175hp and some odd number of torque

i think pi stands for performance improved heads. they gave quite a big difference in power. 99+ 5.4's have them. and 01+ 4.6's have them.

300 flywheel hp = you're lucky to see 240 at the rear wheels

My dusty old cob-web laiden brain recalls ratings for the 5.4 in my 1997 was rated (advertised) at 235, my 1999 at 260. Just couldn't figure out the 250 rating when I punched in the vin on my 2006. (Thought maybe it had the special "wuss performance package," that wasn't shown on the sticker when I bought it. LOL Thanks for the replies!

New body style has 300hp while the older body style has 260. Newest body style is 320 with straight e85.

You do realize that the 2v 5.4 w/o pi heads 235hp was not rwhp? You're probably only dynoing 185-190.
