Underdrive Pulleys Only??

Has anyone here installed them on an otherwise stock 5.4? My truck has Y pipe back exhaust with a Flowmaster super 40 SI/DO. Otherwise stock. I don't care about more power, but my mileage is dog poop. I am hoping these will help, and may do fans also. But wanted to try pulleys first.

I have pulleys (and fans) and it's not that overwhelming. I think all the things you do combined together may have a small impact, but just the pulleys themselves will be negligible. Your fuel mileage will still be dog poop.

LOL. Hmm. Well good to know. Maybe I should bite the bullet and do fans, intake, and pulleys all at once. Thanks for posting up!

If you are wanting to do both it makes a lot of sense to do them at the same time. I never noticed much from my pulleys. The fans i noticed a bit in mileage but i really noticed the more responsive throttle. if you are wanting to do both eventually then do them both together because you have to take off all the fan and shroud to do the pulleys anyway. Will save some work down the road.

Personally, I would take the money your going to spend on the pulleys, save a little more, and just get efans instead....

Great points about the fans. The fans were the one mod that you could instantly feel a difference in the motor in how free it revved and the improved throttle response. The motor just felt free. I think mines an isolated case, but I would not do fans again. The headaches I've had from my e fans doesn't outweigh the performance IMO.

Ive been getting between 10.5-11.8 around town. Granted it was over a small mountain pass, but still averaging around 55-65mph not under heavy load and empty truck it only came up to 12.0. In contrast my 2007 4.6 2wd truck did 14-16 in town and 18.5 over the highway.

This is the one thing that worries me the most. If I buy fans I had made up my mind it would be the newest dual 16" kit from Troyer. If they are not using good components and I am having failures on a nearly $500 kit and after 4 hours of my time to install I would be terribly bent about it.
