Hi, I have a 04 f150 5.4 4x4. I bought it at 70,000 miles, now has 112,000 .

Anywho, it has a "Power Connection" battery in it. I was just wondering if this was a stock OEM battery, or a replacement. because it pooped the bed on me. And if it is aftermarket then I feel I should get a replacement under warranty, but it says on the battery must have receipt for warranty replacement. So i may be screwed because i would have no way to obtain that. It was a Walmart Fleet vehicle for their parts department, so i would assume all maintenance was done at walmart. So if it was put in aftermarket, then it def should be under warranty because it would be a walmart brand?

Not sure what to do, I am sure i'll have to buy a new one out of pocket. But just thinkin it should be under warranty. what do you guys think?

 

As far as I can remember, ford only threw Motorcraft batteries in their vehicles. So I have a feeling its not OEM bud. But as far as it goes, you might be able to get a free battery replacement. I've went in with batteries that said they were still under warranty from that store. It was bought from there, so they replaced it. Just tell them you lost the reciept if they ask.

 

Sounds like a "house" brand from someone like Walmart.

 

Ok, I'll go in there tonight and see if they will help. I would assume it has to be a walmart brand because why would they service their fleet vehicles for their automotive department somewhere else? I would assume they do all the oil changes and battery if it died. The walmart here doesn't carry "power connection" but that doesn't mean they don't at others i suppose. Well, it's def worth a try. walmart only carries everstart batteries. walmart has a "parts department"? more than likely it was a hvac truck.

 

well,I should say an "automotive" department.
HVAC? like heating and a/c? What would they do with that? do they service?
I am not 100% sure what they used it for. it had a topper and no tailgate. The tailgate was brand new and had to have new hardware ordered for it because they had lost the straps.

 

it was a hvac truck then. they took the topper off and transfered it to the new truck. those trucks go around and fix all our hvac issues in our stores. the toppers have a "door" to get into the back of them, hence they get rid of the tailgate to put them on. im kinda surpirsed that u got one with only 70,xxx miles on it, because they are supposed to go 100,xxx miles on them now

 

i wonder if they had a problem with it, so they sold it? and i picked up their bad news . lol great. well, so far nothing major has happend to it. The pass side axle seal, and the driver side wheel bearing. both of those done about 100,000 or so.

 

it is a possibility, but before the truck is sold, they go through it and fix anything that is wrong with it. maybe they did a bad job fixing it. the only thing the tle's do is tires, oil changes, and batteries to the truck. maybe the tle was out of the battery for the truck on that specific day

Much experience with WalMart batteries shows there quality to be low for long term service life.
There is always some who get long life but is not the usual result.
As another aside, look at there GoodYear tire line, it is made specific for that chain and not represenitive of GoodYears' you find at a GY dealer. Look closely!

 

just bite the bullet and buy new one, get a spiral cell, only one that ever lasted longer than 2 years for me, my friend even got duct tape over a hole in the side of his and it still going

 

Yea, but if you have a Costco in your area you can buy 3 of their batteries for the price of 1 of the "spiral bound" and they (spiral bound) are made by the same people that make Wal-Marts batteries. To top it off, you have a 3 year "free replacement" on the Costco so that takes you out to 9 years for the price of one "spiral bound". Pretty much NOBODY makes a truly good battery anymore. If you luck out and get good years of service out of any of them it's an aberration, not the norm. I am not a promoter of Costco's batteries, it's just that they are inexpensive, have an excellent warrantee and they don't give you any hassle if you have a problem.
