big torque loss wtf
big torque loss wtf
so about a month ago i got in my truck and my low end power just wasnt there, the problem seems to be getting worse with time. my buddy said it mite be the tps, so i figured i would unplug it to see if it ran worse and it ran the same with the exception of some crazy shifting, shouldnt it not run right without a tps? and im thinking my throttle bodie and elbow between the throttle bodie and the plenum need to be cleaned, with 125xxx miles should i look into that?
o i got an 01 5.4

just changed the plugs a week ago, with motorcrafts, changed the fuel filter at the same time, i never cleaned the throttle bodie or the elbow since i owned it. i didnt do a compression test but im wishing i did when the plugs were out. i just put in highflow cats, it has a flowmaster 40 series, electric fan and a cold air intake and a transgo shift kit
i didnt have any codes when i scanned it when this first started happening, im gunna try again to see if one popped up without a cel, could it be front 02 sensors?

The TPS sensor is mainly for the transmission... but it does play a role in some regard to the engine's performance. However unplugging it will not attempt to fix the problem. I'm surprised you didn't get a CEL for driving it around unplugged.
It sounds like you need to run some fuel injection cleaner through it. I highly recommend BG44k.

That BG44k is kind of hard to find... your local Ford dealer should have some... or if you call around, ask if they sell BG products, specifically that BG44k engine cleaner. That is what Ford uses at the 100k tune up. I think you run it when there is a 1/2 tank or less. I've ran it in my truck at less than 1/4 of a tank and then drive it like a maniac... or if you want to do it a little safer, just keep it in 1st, and floor it around a little bit... between the high rpms and such, it will flush all the gunk out of there.
so today i ran some sea fome through the brake booster hose, cleaned my mass air sensor and changed my pcv valve and it seems better but know i think im hearing a vacume leak, how could i find somethng like that and do these plastic plenums crack at all
Sometimes the aerisol spray test can identify a leak. Just spray a vapor of carb cleaner or similar flamable product around the intake manifold while it's running, and see if the rpm's change.
You can gain some from TPS adjustment. But first you have to check to see if it's out. Mine was. I had to slot and tip it down because it wasn't adjustable. Heres how much I had to tip it to bring within spec - You adjust KOEO .99 or lower. Mine was 1.03 before adjusting.

I used Coil bolts to hold her down.

How big does that vaccumn leak sound? Did you check the PCV elbo behind the throttle body?
