The only mod that really will do much for you is a tuner with a custom tune set up for economy. Anything else is so miniscule it will never pay for itself. Also, the custom tune will at the same time make your truck peppier and shift better.

What would be the best one to go with and how hard is it to install. Not to sound like a smo, but I just don't know much about programmers!

I knew nothing myself and it literally takes 5 to 10 minutes to install. My choice is the Gryphon with custom tunes as i want the gauges that the monitor provides. They are programmed and sold by www.powerhungryperformance.com

If you have no interest in the gauges, the Xcal3 is a good unit tuned by either VMP or Troyer Performance.

I have seen some others on here talk about an edge programmer and also some have talked about an cold air intake. Thanks for all the info. I have done some stuff like, black headlights, different grill, beltech 2in drop in rear, tinted the windows, and just ordered 22/9.5 wheels for it. So I hope they will look ok.

A cold air intake really can't do much for you unless you have a custom tune to correctly adjust the gas with the additional air flow, and an exhaust that will allow the extra air intake to flow through. An exhaust can be done by itsself, but an intake really should be done in conjuntion with a tuner and alraedy have the exhaust.

The Edge utilizes canned programs only. Kind of one size fits all and even their literature says it is for the stock intake. The Gryphon is the same hardware , but comes with the option of custom tunes.

You should do some reading of the threads in the Chip, Tuner and Progammer section. You can also use the search feature to look up specific info.

Sounds as if you will have a very nice truck. What color?

Sounds like it will be nice. One other thing to consider. If the tire and wheel combo you end up with are a different height, your speedometer and odemeter will be off. A tuner will allow you to correct for that.

Replacing your factory filled fluids with full synthetics like Royal Purple, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Red Line, or Lucas Oil is also suppose to gain efficiency.

X 2 on the Gryphon. If you get one you won't regret it
