Question vacuum hose

I have a 97 F-150 4.6L 4x4

I got a diagnostic check on it because of the check engine line and when i'm driving and i slow down the truck would feel like it's about to die, like it's not getting enough O2, but it drives and shift fine. When i go to a complete stop it dies sometimes. I was told that i needed a new vacuum hose that is located against the back firewall (the mechanic pointed the hose to me) . I went to the local autozone and the guy gave me a fuel hose. I replace the vacuum hose with the fuel hose. Now my truck doesn't seem to be shifting gears. It would rev up really high and i would let go of the gas and push it again to change gear, but if i keep on the gas the rmp keep going up and it won't change gear. This was not happening before I replace the hose. Is there anyway that the hose is causing this? I don't think so, but i would like to check with your guys.

Thanks

In my experience and logical sense, if you make a change and the problem doesn't go away or creates a new problem then you have to put the old part back on and see what the result is.
Is there any chance you can better define what part (hose in this case) you changed out. No way of knowing how to help you, there are a few hoses against the fire wall. Use the search function on this site and see if you can locate some pictures that will show us what you replaced. I have learned that the more info you offer the more help you will recieve.

That's where the pics of the hose are at. I know you are correct that it's probably the hose that i change, but it just doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for replying and looking.
